Two weeks later, Kling was able to return to work. But he was still dealing with a number of symptoms such as shortness of breath, exhaustion and headaches. Today, Kling knows that he had most likely been infected with the coronavirus. A few days before his illness, he had met a client in Hungary. Over a phone call in the summer of 2020, the client confirmed that he and his entire family had been infected with Covid-19. Kling's symptoms were suddenly explainable.
OVERREACTION OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
There was no longer any doubt about it: Kling was suffering from so-called Long Covid. This term refers to exhaustion, shortness of breath, loss of sense of smell, chest pain and other symptoms that persist even after the acute phase of infection by the SARS-COV-2 virus, better known as Covid-19. Why Long Covid occurs in the first place is not entirely clear, but there is strong evidence that the problem is related to how our immune system responds to infections in general. The majority of the causes are thought to be the persistence of an infection caused by viruses or virus fragments. "The cause is thought to be a triggered inflammatory process," says Dr. Martin Edlinger, a specialist in general medicine (FMH) at the Clinica Austria in Alicante. In the meantime, it is known that a significant number of deaths related to viral infections are due to a phenomenon known as the cytokine storm. This occurs when the replication of the virus in the body leads to an excessive inflammatory response. Cytokines are substances produced by the body, whose primary function is to signal the immune system to fight off an infection. In some patients, however, an overreaction occurs - the cytokine storm - and the excess cytokines lead to considerable inflammatory reactions in the body. In addition to the symptoms described above, these can lead to severe damage - even organ failure and death. The problem should not be underestimated.
“Long covid develops in 10 to 20 percent of all Covid patients. In Europe, that's about five million, worldwide about 20 million ”, explains Francisco Mera Cordero from the Catalan Health Authority. "Their health status and their quality of life are severely affected."
ARTEMIC GIVES HOPE
But there is hope. Clinical trials have shown that a product by the name of ArtemiC helps combat the symptoms of Covid-19 disease while blocking the overreaction that can rapidly deteriorate the patient's condition. ArtemiC is a purely all-natural food supplement from Switzerland, created and distributed by the company Swiss PharmaCan AG. Its main ingredients - vitamin C, curcumin and frankincense - reduce inflammation, have an antibacterial effect and strengthen the immune system. A unique manufacturing process improves the bioavailability of the ingredients and thus leads to a very high degree of effectiveness. ArtemiC was tested in a study of 50 Covid-19 patients in India and Israel. "The patients were in poor health condition, had fever and had pre-existing medical conditions such as diabetes or obesity - risk factors for a severe course," says Dr. Nadya Lisovoder, CEO at Galilee Clinical Bio Research, which carried out the study. About half of the patients received ArtemiC, while the remaining half were given a placebo.
"At the end of the study, 100 percent of patients in the treatment group showed improvement. Within 15 days of follow-up, all of them had fully recovered ”, says Lisovoder, summarizing the results. She emphasizes the broad application possibilities of the drug: “The approach of ArtemiC is to stop systemic inflammation. Therefore, it should not only be helpful against Covid-19. Many diseases are related to a cytokine storm, such as flu, pneumonia, Crohn's disease or rheumatoid arthritis. We believe that the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effect of ArtemiC can be beneficial against many diseases. "
BREATHE EASILY AGAIN
Dr. Edlinger from Alicante was convinced of the food supplement: “In our practice, we had 33 Long Covid patients. All of them were symptoms-free after just 14 days of ArtemiC. " Dr. Edlinger describes a noticeable energy boost that his patients report - an effect that, in his view, could also be present without the presence of Covid-19 disease. For Kling, ArtemiC meant the end of his suffering. “My condition was getting worse, and I thought I would just have to live with it,” he says. But then, he had the opportunity to try ArtemiC in December 2020. “Within two days, I had regained 60 percent of my lung capacity back, and after three days it was 90 percent. It was a wonderful feeling to fi¬nally be able to breathe freely again, ”is how he describes the effect. The headaches disappeared. In the meantime, Kling could once again do those beloved activities he had been forced to stop doing for a long time - cycling tours and other outdoor activities. "ArtemiC has given me my life back," he says.
This is a food supplement and is not intended to cure or treat any disease.
